Offers for Reception Entry – FAQ

When does the admissions process formally open?

Registration with Rokeby School can be completed at any time from birth, and the offer process will then begin in early December two years prior to entry, with offers being made to all registered boys on a first-come, first-served basis.

How do I register my son with Rokeby?

Please click here for our registration form. A non-refundable £120 registration fee should accompany your registration form.

What will happen once you start making offers and reach capacity?

Once we have reached capacity, any additional applicants will be added to a waiting list.

Are there any relevant forms or documentation I should begin gathering ahead of the offer process?

The only form you will need to complete before the offer process begins is a Rokeby registration form. On acceptance of a place, original evidence of your son’s date of birth and nationality (either birth certificate or passport) must be brought to the school for photocopying.

Will boys who have registered be given preference over those who have not yet registered?

Assuming we have not reached capacity, boys who have registered with Rokeby will be given priority over those who have not yet registered.

If my son is registered, does this guarantee him a place?

Assuming we have not already reached capacity at the point of registration, your son will automatically be offered a place.

Is there anything else I need to do once I have registered?

Once you have registered your son with us, there is nothing further you need to do until the offer process begins.

How do I accept an offer?

Offer packs will be posted out from early December, two years prior to entry. Should you wish to accept, you will need to sign and return the acceptance form included in your pack, along with a £2500 acceptance deposit and bring original evidence of your son’s ID to the school for photocopying.

How long will I have to decide whether to accept the offer?

Families will have 6 weeks to decide whether to accept the offer.

Is the £2500 deposit refundable if I change my mind?

The £2500 deposit is non-refundable if you decide to withdraw your acceptance of a place.

Are there any specific tests my son will need to do?

Offers are subject to a positive nursery report, which will be requested from the boys’ current settings in the September/October prior to entry, and the boys are invited to a Discovery Morning at the end of that same term. This is an opportunity for us to start getting to know the boys and for the boys to get to know us.

Do you hold settling-in days for boys due to join Reception?

Boys are invited to attend an Autumn Term Discovery Morning, a Spring Term Stay and Play session and a Summer Term Taster Morning during the year running up to entry. Parents are also invited to join us for drinks with the Headmaster and a New Parents’ Information Evening.

If I have a son already attending or due to attend Rokeby School, will we automatically be offered a place?

Yes, assuming you have registered your son with Rokeby prior to the start of the offer process, he will automatically receive an offer to join Reception. Should registration be received after this time, and should we have reached capacity for that entry point, as a sibling, he will be boosted to the top of our waiting list.

When can we visit the school?

We run Headmaster’s 4+ Coffee Mornings and Reception Open Mornings throughout the year and a Whole School Open Morning each October. All visits include a tour of the school with our current boys and an opportunity to meet key members of staff, and can be booked via the Visit Us page of our website.
